Artificial intelligence (AI) is a fast-moving area of technology shaping the delivery of legal services. As an agent of the Illinois Supreme Court, the ARDC’s aim is to support Illinois lawyers in using AI ethically and effectively through practical guidance, education, and tools that help you meet your professional obligations.

We align our approach with the Illinois Supreme Court Policy on Artificial Intelligence. The Policy authorizes lawyers to use AI so long as existing duties are satisfied- including competence, confidentiality, supervision, candor, and protection of sensitive information. If any ARDC material appears inconsistent with the Court’s Policy, the Court’s Policy controls.
