Disposition Suspension for a specified period
Effective Date of Disposition 06/11/2019
End Date of Disposition 08/10/2019
Definition of Disposition Suspension for a specified period reflects a determination that the lawyer has engaged in misconduct and that the misconduct warrants an interruption of the lawyer's authority to practice law during the suspension period, which is a fixed period of time identified in the Supreme Court's order. The lawyer is not authorized to practice law during the period of the suspension.
Case Summary Mr. Atteberry, who was licensed in 2001, was suspended for sixty days. He filed a statement of candidacy in a primary election for the office of resident circuit judge for Shelby County in which he claimed a false residence address within the county in order to comply with the residency requirement for that judicial position. In fact, he did not reside in Shelby County and was ineligible for the office. The suspension is effective on June 11, 2019.
