Disposition Suspension for a specified period
Effective Date of Disposition 04/06/2021
End Date of Disposition 07/05/2021
Definition of Disposition Suspension for a specified period reflects a determination that the lawyer has engaged in misconduct and that the misconduct warrants an interruption of the lawyer's authority to practice law during the suspension period, which is a fixed period of time identified in the Supreme Court's order. The lawyer is not authorized to practice law during the period of the suspension.
Case Summary Mr. Carver, who was licensed in Florida in 1990 and in Illinois in 1991, was suspended for 90 days by the Florida Supreme Court. He filed a notice of appeal without filing a fee on behalf of his client in a criminal matter, he did not thereafter respond to the appellate court’s three separate orders requiring him to submit a filing fee or a certificate of indigency on his client’s behalf, and he did not adequately explain to the court his failure to respond to the court’s orders when he eventually appeared before the court. The Supreme Court of Illinois imposed reciprocal discipline and suspended him for 90 days. The suspension is effective on April 6, 2021.

Disposition Suspension for a specified period
Effective Date of Disposition 04/05/2018
End Date of Disposition 04/15/2018
Definition of Disposition Suspension for a specified period reflects a determination that the lawyer has engaged in misconduct and that the misconduct warrants an interruption of the lawyer's authority to practice law during the suspension period, which is a fixed period of time identified in the Supreme Court's order. The lawyer is not authorized to practice law during the period of the suspension.
Case Summary Mr. Carver was licensed in Florida in 1990 and in Illinois in 1991. He was suspended in Florida for ten days and placed on a two-year period of conditional probation upon reinstatement. He failed to abide by Florida trust accounting rules, entered into an improper agreement to purchase property from foreclosure clients, and did not timely obtain a beneficiary designation in connection with a decedent’s estate. The Illinois Supreme Court imposed reciprocal discipline and suspended him for ten days, followed by two years of probation, nunc pro tunc to July 21, 2016, subject to the conditions imposed in Florida, and until he successfully completes his period of probation there. The suspension is effective on April 5, 2018.

Disposition Probation
Effective Date of Disposition 07/21/2016
End Date of Disposition 05/09/2019 Probationary condition(s) satisfied.
Definition of Disposition Probation reflects a determination that the lawyer has engaged in misconduct, but also a finding that the lawyer may continue to practice law pursuant to specified conditions under ARDC supervision without posing a risk to the public, profession, or courts. As a result, the lawyer may continue to practice law during the period of probation, subject to the conditions imposed by the Court. Probation may be ordered for a specified period of time or for a specified period of time and until further order of the Court. Probation may be ordered in conjunction with a suspension, which may be stayed in whole or in part. A stay defers that portion of the suspension as long as the lawyer complies with probationary conditions. If the lawyer successfully completes probation, the lawyer is not actually suspended during any portion of the stayed suspension.
