Disposition Suspension for a specified period
Effective Date of Disposition 12/13/2005
End Date of Disposition 12/13/2008
Definition of Disposition Suspension for a specified period reflects a determination that the lawyer has engaged in misconduct and that the misconduct warrants an interruption of the lawyer's authority to practice law during the suspension period, which is a fixed period of time identified in the Supreme Court's order. The lawyer is not authorized to practice law during the period of the suspension.
Case Summary Mr. Cwynar, who was licensed in 1979, was suspended for three years. He converted over $91,000 he was supposed to be holding in trust. In addition, he paid a client a purported settlement when, in fact, he had never undertaken any action on that client’s behalf. He also deposited a check drawn on a closed account and failed to disburse promptly settlement funds in a personal injury matter. The suspension is effective on December 13, 2005.
