1990 Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct

RULE 8.2  Judicial and Legal Officials   [revisions to 1990 Rule are indicated as follows: text deleted from the 1990 Rule is shown by strikethrough; additions to the 1990 Rule are shown in red]

(a)    A lawyer shall not make a statement the lawyer knows to be false or with reckless disregard as to its truth or falsity concerning the qualifications or integrity of a judge, adjudicativeory officer, or public legal officer, or of a candidate for election or appointment to judicial or legal office.

(b)    A lawyer who is a candidate for judicial office shall refrain from conduct which, if the lawyer were a judge, would be a breach comply with the applicable provisions of the Code of Judicial Conduct.
